The Family Upstairs from Lisa Jewell is a dark and twisted thriller and I was hooked. The books is told through three points of views and two time periods. The main character Libby is newly 25 years old and has just inherited a house that is worth millions. As a child, Libby was found abandoned in the same house that she has just inherited but this house holds dark secrets about the lives of the people that used to live there. What happened in this house? Why was Libby found alone? These are just a few question the reader has as you embark on this journey. This book has a bit of everything including a murder, lust, a dysfunctional family and even a cult.
The only, slightly negative thing I have to say about this book is that during the first few chapters, it was hard to figure out where the story was going and trying to get a hold of all the characters. One the setup chapters are complete, the book becomes a a real page turner. This book kept me guessing which is something that i really liked about it . There were so many twists and turns, In this book not everyone is who they say they are, you allegiance to certain characters shifts after learning the truth about them. This book keeps you guessing until the last page, it is a worthwhile read that will leave you wanting more.
