New Sew Fabric Pillow

I love DIY because i love the idea of re-purposing something! I love being able to use something in a new way and its also a great way to save some extra money.

I created this pillow with fabric from an old ottoman. I had put my suede pillow in the

washing machine and it got shredded. I didn’t want to throw the pillow stuffing out, so I used old fabric that I saved because I didn’t want to get rid of it.

My pillow stuffing was wrapped already in a 12x12 square pillow casing. If you want to buy pillow fluff, you can decide what size pillow you want and then save the stuffing until you have tied 3 of the 4 sides of the pillow.

How to:

  1. The first thing I did was cut the fabric leaving about about an extra 2-3inches around the pillow

  2. I cut 2 inch slits all around the pillow from both the front and back pieces of fabric

  3. Then I took the two pieces of fabric and tied them with a double knot

  4. Finally, I cleared the extra pilling away.

Note- My fabric on the back was quite thick, it was a bit harder to tie the thick fabric it still worked but be mindful of the fabric you choose for this project.

This was such an easy and fun thing to do with extra fabric. My new nautical pillow goes great in my living room!
